Overview

Quán Ngon Toronto, located at 2849 Jane St in North York, offers an authentic taste of northern Vietnamese cuisine, a rare find in the city’s vibrant food scene. This modest eatery channels the essence of Hai Phong and surrounding regions through its carefully curated menu, highlighting dishes like Cháo Lòng, Bun Thit Nuong, Bun Mang Vit, and the rich Đa Cua Tôm Thịt.

What sets Quán Ngon apart is its commitment to authentic flavors that evoke memories of northern Vietnam. The Cháo Lòng offers a comforting, well-balanced broth rich in traditional spices. Bun Thit Nuong, a vermicelli dish paired with grilled meat, displays a delicate marinade that never overwhelms the palate, staying true to the subtlety typical of the region. The signature crab soup, Bún Riêu Cua Hải Phòng, stands out with its deep, layered broth that feels both hearty and refined.

Customer experiences often highlight the authenticity and care poured into each dish. May Nguyen praises the traditional northern style with its clean yet flavorful beef pho and savory Bun Cha, noting the difference from southern Vietnamese sweetness. Lisa N. also applauds the kitchen’s precision in delivering regional specialties that are not commonly found in typical Vietnamese restaurants. However, some feedback points to the need for improvements in the dining atmosphere and ingredient balance — specifically regarding the presence of MSG and lingering food aromas, which may affect comfort during and after the meal.

The interior of Quán Ngon Toronto leans towards informal and cozy, ideal for groups of friends or family seeking a genuine culinary experience. The focus here is not on elaborate décor but on the food itself and friendly service, which many guests find memorable. While the space may feel somewhat tight with kitchen odors permeating the dining area, the staff’s warm hospitality often compensates, making diners feel welcome and valued.

Quán Ngon Toronto is best suited for adventurous diners and lovers of authentic Vietnamese food who appreciate nuanced, less-sweet northern flavors. It’s a destination that bridges Toronto with Vietnam’s rich culinary heritage, providing more than just a meal—a genuine taste of culture and tradition.

We were in the area searching for some Vietnamese food. This hidden gem will bring you right back to a corner of Hai Phong, northern cuisine style where the beef pho is simple flavour of onions and ginger yet delicious, Bun cha is full of flavour in the broth, garlic, ginger and not as sweet as southern style. Its rare to find a true Viet northern cuisine style in Toronto, I trult apprised this experience and will definitely come back

If you want good authentic Vietnamese food, then you must try Quán Ngon by Oanh’s Kitchen. The dishes here are special, some of which represents a city in Vietnam and you can’t just get anywhere at a typical pho resto. The dishes here are prepared with the utmost care. We had the bún riêu cua Hải Phòng, which is a crab soup. The broth is soooo flavourful and rich. The portion is good too. Another dish we had is the bún thịt nướng chả nem cua bể, vermicelli with grilled meat and crab rolls. Marinade is not too salty and just right making you want more

finally a restaurant has my hometown food I’m so happy I’ve been wanting to come visit but I was kinda busy so this time we ordered a lot! we love the foood!! the potions are so big and the price is reasonable I couldn’t finish everything tbh we tried nem chua ran, muc chien bo, cha ca la vong, bun cha, bun tom, banh da cua. the 3 mains were sooo delicious I saw a review saying why the banh da cua doesnt have crab in it - no usually in Haiphong we dont put crab in banh da cua topping so I can confirm this is authentic the service was on point! the owner was very nice and friendly. I have a chance to know more about this family business, he said wanted to let everyone try our hometown flavours before leaving I also grab 2 cups of che buoi definitely come back and be come a regular

I think this is the most authentic Haiphong/Vietnamese food in Toronto, other than the hyper-marketed food on social media. I will be back for more. Highly recommended. Bún Ngan, bánh đa cua, and lòng dồi was so good. Thank you.
